![]() i entered non-matching ingredients into cosdna to see what they were. I highlighted matching ingredients in matching colors. Here is my very fancy comparison of the two ingredient lists. I don't see the obvious texture differences that were so apparent in the pictures from the blog post - the post is from 2011, though, so maybe 2-3 years ago, there was more of a difference between the two products. (german on left american on right) here is a schmear of both products side by side. GOOP COMPARISON here are both tins side by side. i do think that the white residue/film disappears slightly faster when this product is applied. at first i thought it looked slightly greasier, but i tried not to be biased by the blog post i mentioned above. in the tin, the texture is exactly the same as the german one as well. It smells exactly the same as the german one. I went out and bought this yesterday, for comparison's sake. Here are some pictures, including the ingredient list. when applied, this leaves a slight white residue on my skin that melts away in a few minutes. the texture is much thicker than i was expecting - something like cream cheese or very thick greek yogurt. I would describe the smell of this product as "not bad." it smells like fragranced lotion, but not any specific fragrance. It turns out that the nivea creme i already had in my house is the german stuff, because my dad frequently travels for work and flies on some fancy-ass european airline that gives people nivea creme for free on the plane (which he obviously brings home and gives to me to add to my skincare product hoard). it looks in this persons pictures like there is a really clear textural difference between the two products. the ingredients are exactly the same except for maybe 2-3 ingredients, but people really seem to think the german one is better/fancier/a dupe for creme de la mer/whatever, so i was ready to assume that people are dumb and there is literally no difference until i saw this blog post. ![]() I thought the fact that people apparently claim that the german version of nivea creme is better than the american/mexican version was interesting and decided to investigate it further. ![]() aquaphor is nice, but i wanted a creamy/lotion-y product that would work better under makeup. So after /u/Khokhmah's post, which alerted me to the fact that nivea creme doesn't have cetyl/cetearyl alcohols, i decided to try it because i have been looking for a replacement product for cerave in the tub.
